The 10 most common mistakes on web pages

Does your company's website make any of these mistakes?

1. You have a website but nobody finds it: indexing and positioning
It is useless to have a wonderful website if search engines (Google, Yahoo, bing, Ask ...) do not take it into account, this can happen due to different problems, such as being based on flash format or having frames and links in Javascript, etc. We already know that Flash and the Apple universe have never gotten along, Flash does not display correctly on Ipads and Iphones, also Google ignores it and does not index it in its search engine, if this is your case you should say goodbye and bet on the new HTML5 that plays animations, videos, etc.
If you use wordpress we recommend Yoast's SEO plugin to optimize your website. It allows you to remove other plugins, such as XML Sitemaps, RSS Footer or Robots or No Index No Follow, because WordPress SEO already integrates these functionality into its scope, and the fewer plugins the more speed so it has it all. To know more about this free jewel, you will surely be interested in this article about positioning.
2. Its design is not responsive, or what is the same: It is not adapted to all mobile devices (Smartphones, Iphones, tablets, Ipads)
Responsive web design is one that adapts to the size of the device from which we are viewing a certain website. More than 60% of users use mobile devices to surf the Internet and this percentage is on the rise. Visiting a page that is not adapted from the mobile can become torture, opening the zoom, trying to press the menu buttons is uncomfortable, but if it is about seeing products, turn it off and let's go ,,, we do exactly that if we try to see something on the Conforama website ... (if Conoforama is modernized one day, we will gladly remove this paragraph)
You can check how your website is displayed on different devices at:

If your company's website is WordPress and it is not adapted, you can try a plugin created for this purpose. Luck! At Marabelia we create websites adapted to all mobile devices from birth, of course.
3. It is not seen correctly in the most used browsers and their different versions
We have a website that we proudly display but on Cousin Luisa's computer it appears absolutely disheveled, horror of horrors!
You have to carefully review how our website and each of its pages appear in all browsers. How?
Here you will see how it is displayed in Explorer browsers
netrenderer.com
In the following link you can see your website in IOS and other browsers, yes, you have to register
browserstack.com
Do not forget that there are many browsers, we tend to think that they all use the same one that we use but nothing is further from the truth!
4. You don't measure the results
What do your users visit the most? What day have there been more visits? What works and what doesn't? Measure, reflect and act to make decisions based on data. Google Analytics or Google Webmaster Tools are essential for this task, and you may wonder why we focus only on Google tools with more search engines, because Google exceeds 90% in search share. Unless you want to be well positioned in Asia where Google is overtaken by Baidu (70%) in Europe Google is King.
5. It has a lot of text ... remember less is more
There are almost infinite websites, with drop-down menus, submenus and sub-submenus that take us to pages of eternal scrolls… the user wants to see what you offer at a glance. Think about what information is important, essential, summarize, prioritize and highlight. Divide what you want to tell into small blocks and give more importance to the image. Nobody wants to read a "billet", remember to use PDF files so that users can download files with long text (regulations, convocations, etc.) and that your pages are light with luggage but with a blank tip!
When it comes to usability, it is neither more nor less than a website is easy, that what one is looking for is quickly found and one of the keys is that the content is just right, neither more nor less.
For example, think that many people who find you on the Internet will want to contact you. Make it easy for them! The contact page should always be on the main menu. It's really frustrating looking for a business phone number or knowing how to get to an office and it's mission impossible.

6.  The design is not up to par
From the shape of the buttons, the slide transitions, through the colors, the image galleries, the video player ... the possibilities are endless, don't settle for a mediocre website. First we must think about what we want to convey: elegance, quality, seriousness, optimism, creativity? The design of your website will depend in part on the success of your business, do not underestimate it, we buy with our eyes.
7. Does not comply with the law
Here we get serious, we are playing a fine of a lot of money for not complying with the regulations that basically is divided into three requirements:
  • Legal Notice: all commercial websites must include a legal notice where they clearly state their business name, CIF, a physical address, an email and a telephone number.
  • Privacy Policy: Does your website have a contact form? then it is already obliged to announce that the company complies with the LOPD and manages personal data in accordance with the regulations.
  • Cookies Law: Do you have a Google Maps map inserted? Activated social media plugins? Embedded Youtube videos? Cookies are everywhere, and no, we are not referring to English cookies, your website should notify you that it contains cookies and give the option of accepting or not. If the user does not accept, the cookies that have been installed must be eliminated, it is not worth just announcing it, be careful with this because there are solutions that are a "patch" but do not comply with the regulations.
8. Has default music
A website with music invades our space without our permission, and can cause a lot of annoyance (at dawn, in a library ...) If your page requires audio files, let your users press "Play"
9. The blog has not been updated since time immemorial and the RRSS are conspicuous by their absence
Time immemorial or what is the same more than 2 months. To prevent the desert balls from crossing your blog you have several options: update or delete it! But we suggest that you propose to write regularly, think about what your clients are interested in and get down to work, you know how important it is to position your website.
And if you are present on social networks, it is a crime not to integrate them on the web by having the links to the Facebook, Youtube, Linkedin channels, etc. It is very interesting the WordPress plugin "Share This" that allows you to share, comment and like Facebook on the post itself, it is the one we use in this blog, and it is also free.
10. Still under construction ...
If the work is paralyzed ... we suggest that it not appear in any commercial brochure, card, video, etc. If your company has been in the market for years and someone enters the web under construction, the impression is that the company is not serious, leaves things by half, or is lacking in resources, much worse if after time they re-enter and the message remains the same, so until it is operational do not publish the url anywhere.
If it is really under construction, opt for a "Coming soon" like the one we show you, yes, meet the deadlines!
After shelling these mistakes We give you some advice. Surprise! When you express yourself on a web page you are creating a dialogue with the one on the other side of the screen, why not wink at him? The sector you work in or the image you want to convey will determine what kind of language you use, but try to be creative, direct, use short sentences and be original, sometimes a little irreverence and ingenuity is the dart that hits. Remember that institutional self-aggrandizement, use honesty and a sense of humor to build your multimedia speech and the other side of the screen will thank you.
What are you waiting for to modernize your page?
